Coordinate a Benefit for the LA/SPCA

Some community initiated projects include:

  • The Bulldog Mid-City Patio hosts Unleash Your Tastebuds, benefiting the LA/SPCA. A massive beer tasting, complemented by Jambalaya, with four-legged friends welcome, is the result of owner, Herb Dyer's, imagination and generosity.

  • Oreck Corporation hosts a three day hair-raising event with 15% of every Oreck product purchase benefiting the programs and services of the LA/SPCA!

  • Big Easy Rollergirls benefits us with their first two bouts by asking their audience to bring an item (or two or three...) from our Wish List and receive a complimentary beverage ticket night-of the event!

  • Earthsavers Uptown located at  5501 Magazine, made the LA/SPCA part of their grand-reopening! After being closed for four months due to a fire on Magazine St., they coupled their reopening with a fundraiser for the LA/SPCA.

  • Whole Foods Market located at 3420 Veterans Blvd, chose us as a recipient for a CommUnity Giving Day. 2.5% of the days net profits came to us.

  • Local pianist, Jeanne d'Avray, brainstormed, organized and preformed at the first-ever
Dinner Cat-e-ret, held at a local Metairie restaurant. Wonderful entertainment was provided by Richie Ladner, Robert Siegel, Tom Fitzmorris, Nick Faro, Anais St.John,
Dr. Hector Ventura and Fred Brink. All proceeds benefited us.

  • The Bulldog Uptown held their annual St. Patrick's Day party and asked us to "oversee" a Port-a-Pot. Charging a few dollars for each use, we received all the proceeds. They also donate a percentage of their t-shirt sales to us!

  • Brides-to-be and their bridal shower hostesses asked their guests to bring gifts and donations for the animals.  We received huge baskets of goodies and monetary gifts that made many animals very happy!

Kai Aneka Hall, age 14, St Mary’s Academy in Gentilly.
(October 2006)

As a community service project, Kai collected newspapers,
grocery bags and over 60lbs worth of dog and
cat treats, and brought it to the shelter.

Howls and Meows to Kai from the animals of the Louisiana SPCA!
