***Lakeview Cruelty Case Update*** 
Trial Continued to Monday, December 8

The Lakeview animal cruelty case that we emailed you about yesterday has again been continued and is scheduled to resume Monday, December 8th at 10 a.m. The defendant’s attorney argued that the District Attorney had mistakenly charged the defendant with cruelty to a bat (the animal) rather than cruelty with a bat (one of the weapons used to kill the defendant’s dog). The trial was continued due to this technicality presented by the defense.

We appreciate all of you who have appeared in court today to show your support for the animal victims in this case, who would not have a voice were it not for you. Thank you too for your support of the hard work being done everyday by Kathryn Destreza, LA/SPCA’s Director of Humane Law Enforcement and her team of humane officers. This case typifies the work they do in dealing with difficult animal cruelty cases and the legal hurdles they often face.

We hope you’re able to be join us when the trial resumes Monday morning. We again ask that you wear an LA/SPCA shirt if you have one. We would also appreciate if you would please forward this message to anyone you think maybe able to attend as well.
