Prevention
Because we recognize that animal suffering is due in
part to ignorance or apathy, we advocate strongly for animal welfare to
create laws on both city and state level that ensure the protection of
animal life. Beginning in 1888 with a mandate to improve the plight of
horses and mules treated poorly in New Orleans, we now focus on
preventing the needless suffering of all domesticated animals.
That is why we continue to advocate strongly for the abolishment of
barbaric “sports,” such as cockfighting and hogdogging; and we will
continue to work on a state level to bring dogfighters to justice.
Even though Hurricane Katrina, August 29, 2005, temporarily altered
our infrastructure, we continue to rebuild and remain on the frontlines helping animals;
focusing on our mission dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering.
In the face of devastation, we are re-building and continue our work to
eradicate animal cruelty and improve the human-animal bond. |
