***THEY NEED YOUR VOICE NOW MORE
THAN EVER***
TUESDAY, APRIL 18, 2006, BATON
ROUGE STATE CAPITOL
On
April 18, 2006 in Baton
Rouge the Louisiana’s Senate
Judiciary “B” Committee will hear
SB 607 that if passed would
create a detailed disaster operation
plan for service animals and
household pets.

The tragic events of animals stuck
on rooftops, animals abandoned in
homes for weeks or people forced to
leave their pets behind or not
evacuating at all if they had to
leave their pets should never happen
again. The goal of SB 607, authored
by Senator “Clo” Fontenot, is to
ensure that these unacceptable
scenarios are not repeated in future
disasters.
Time and Location: The Senate
Committee on Judiciary "B" will meet
at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 18,
in the John J. Hainkel, Jr. Room
which is located on the basement
level of the state capitol. This
room is located on the west side of
the capitol. You must enter thru the
ground level senate committee hall.
It’s important to have the committee
members hear personal accounts and
understand why we have to establish
a detailed disaster plan to protect
pets in the future.
We need your
support and your voice in the
following ways.
-
Your
presence at the committee
hearing on April 18
-
Testimony
from individuals who were forced
to leave their pets behind or
who did not evacuate because
they refused to leave their pets
-
Letters,
phone calls and e-mails to the
Senate Judiciary “B” Committee
members supporting the pet
evacuation bill – SB607
Contact these members now and let
them know why you support this
important bill.
