Louisiana SPCA &
Belladonna Day Spa
Hosts a Weekend Microchipping Blitz
NEW ORLEANS
(7/17/06) – The Louisiana SPCA and
Belladonna Day Spa join forces to
host a weekend blitz of
microchipping for dogs and cats at
3209 Tchoupitoulas Street, the
future home of Belladoggie, Resort
Spa for Dogs. The microchipping
clinic will be held this Saturday
and Sunday, July 22 and July 23 from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. For the
first 100 pets each day the fee will
be only $5. After the first 100, the
fee will be $10.00. The fee covers
the microchip, insertion of the chip
and registration into a national
database.
Utilizing the LA/SPCA theme “Don’t
Leave Home Without Them” the goal of
the microchipping event is to
increase microchipping of pets in
our community and increase awareness
of the importance of hurricane
preparedness and pet identification.
Every year, thousands of pets never
find their way home due to either no
or inadequate pet identification.
This past hurricane season
illustrated just how necessary
proper pet identification is in
locating a lost pet.
“Microchipping is another step we
can take in saving lives,” said
Laura Maloney, LA/SPCA Executive
Director. “Microchipping, coupled
with a collar and ID tag, is your
companions best chance at safely
returning home. It also helps to
alleviate the worry and panic that
can develop when a pet becomes
lost.”
The LA/SPCA extends a special thank
you to Belladonna for making this
event possible.
