Jinx
Parish

Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue
3rd Deputy Chairdog,
Dog Day Afternoon
2008
Winner of the 2007 Dog Day Afternoon Rescue Competition
Jinx Parish found himself homeless at a very young age. He was not yet
two years old, wild and rambunctious, and with no obedience
training he became too much for his original family to handle.
Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue found him a foster home with Janet
Parish. Jinx won the heart of her young son Sean, and they were
a perfect match - unruly, mischievous and manipulative, but
eager to please - and Jinx was adopted by the Parishes. Enrolled
in obedience school and in a loving home, Jinx was even able to
host other foster dogs that first year. But then came Katrina,
and the loss of their home. In the two years it took for the
Parishes to find a new home, Jinx blossomed into the “settled”
dog Janet was looking for, and has even earned the Canine Good
Citizen certification. He is now sharing his home with more
foster dogs, and helping them see how great life can be for a
rescued dog. Jinx is our ambassador - a shining example of what
a dog can achieve with love and training. Jinx is the embodiment
of what we do and why we do it.

In memory of Xander
 |
Xander recently passed away and has left a big hole in a lot of
people’s hearts. Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue felt it only
fitting that Xander be honored by our online
Dog Day
Afternoon fundraising page. And we know this prince of a
dog would indeed be happy to help raise money for the
shelter that once took him in and saw that he had a
chance at a life far different from the one he had known
before. Xander will be missed. |
