Dog Day Afternoon
Official Rules
1. The pre-registration fee is $20 for adults and $15 for children, 12 and under. Registration forms and fees can be mailed to the LA/SPCA
prior to the event. Day-of-Event registration will be $25 for adults
and $20 for children. Walk numbers will be mailed to
pre-registrations if received no later than March 31st. After March
31st
registrations will be held at WILL
CALL.
Make checks payable to the LA/SPCA.
2. All registrants will receive a Dog Day Afternoon t-shirt and
food/beverage tickets.
3. Participants are encouraged to compete for prizes and
Chairdog positions by obtaining sponsors for the Jog/walk a-thon utilizing an official
Sponsorship form and ActiveGiving.
4. Prizes will be awarded to participants who raise top
amounts of money for the LA/SPCA through sponsorships/pledges in the
Jog/walk a-thon. Additional prizes will be awarded by random drawing to those in the following groups who raise: $50 to $100; $101 to $250; $251 to $500; and $500 and above.
5. Trophies/ribbons will be given to the first three joggers who check in with officials at the Finish Line after completing the course, and to the first three winners in each category of the Dog Competition contests that follows the walk.
6. The course is the two-mile loop in Audubon Park between Magazine St. and St. Charles Ave.
7. Participants must wear official Walk-a-Thon numbers during the walk.
8. To be eligible for prizes and Chairdog positions, money must be collected from sponsors and turned in to the LA/SPCA by
4:00pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2008
9. To be eligible for prizes, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
a) If, by the
April 16 deadline, less than the pledged amount is submitted to the LA/SPCA,
the two people who turn in the highest totals will win first and
second prizes. Third prize is based on a random drawing of all those
turning in donations by deadline. c) All prize winners will be determined after donations reach the LA/SPCA by the
April 16 deadline.
10. The same dog cannot win first place two years in a row. His owner can, however, enter a different dog.
11. While a person can enter more than one dog, they must determine at the time of entry which dog is competing to win.
12. If, due to weather, the event cannot take place on April
6, the event will not be rescheduled. Shirts will be available at
the LA/SPCA, 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd.
13. Dog and human spectators are welcome
and not required to participate in the walk.
14. DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASHES AT ALL TIMES. Please do not bring dogs that must be muzzled,
or dogs in heat. All participating dogs must be current on vaccinations.
15. The LA/SPCA has the right to cancel the dog jog in the event of hot weather. |
