Camp Luv-A-Pet

Camp Luv-A-Pet, developed for children entering 2nd or 3rd grade, is a new summer camp first made available August 2008. The program is designed to teach young people about the LA/SPCA and general animal care topics. They are introduced to services the shelter offers, safety with animals, pet handling and care, grooming skills, and responsible pet ownership.

The camp runs for one week, from Monday thru Friday, from 9am to Noon. The week is filled with animal related arts and crafts, fun activities and presentations about animal related issues, and ample time with puppies and kittens to learn proper handling and grooming skills. Campers contribute to the comfort of shelter animals by creating toys and treats for the animals to enjoy.

This camp is a great introduction for young people to learn about animal care and handling in a fun way.

Completed applications are accepted as they are received until all available slots are filled.

If your child has a love for animals, and would like to pursue that love,
contact the LA/SPCA, (504)368-5191, ext. 207, or email us.
