Hurricane Preparedness
The LA/SPCA advises the following steps to implement during hurricane season.

Preparing You and Your Pet for Disaster
Natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods are out of our control. However, planning for a disaster is something we can all do. Prepare you and your pets for a safe evacuation...

What Your Pet Needs for Evacuation
The safest place for your pets is with you! Acquire needed items for an easy and safe evacuation before disaster threatens...

Help Your Pets Brave Severe Weather Conditions
The Louisiana SPCA is reminding all pet owners to include their pets in severe weather preparation and to remember that high winds, thunder and lightening can be traumatic to some pets during heavy storm periods associated with tropical storms and hurricanes.

Additional Reading and READY KIDS
Additional Reading consists of supplemental articles, including "Crates Help When Planning for Travel" and "Help Your Pets Brave Severe Weather Conditions." READY KIDS is a great site from the Office of Homeland Security! Disaster preparedness is something the whole family should be involved with. READY KIDS is a fun way to help children learn what to do in case disaster strikes.

Public Service Announcements
Irvin Mayfield and Phillip Manuel recorded the PSA's, with WWNO FM Radio and General Manager Chuck Miller generously donating their facilities, staff time and talent to make these public service announcements possible.

LA/SPCA URGES PET OWNERS TO PLAN FOR HURRICANE SEASON
NEW ORLEANS (6/5/07) The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is urging pet owners to include their pets as part of their hurricane preparation plans, and to make the commitment to evacuate with them should the need arise.
