Owners and Pets Reunited after Return
from Hurricane Gustav Evacuation
When the City Assisted Evacuees arrived
at the shelter to be reunited with their pets, starting
Friday, September 5th, excitement brightened the lobby of
the Louisiana SPCA. Staff, volunteers and owners were all
smiles as paperwork was completed and a walk was taken to the
kennels. Yet nothing could compare to seeing the animals as
they realized their beloved owners had returned to take them
home. Had the floors not been so slick, many a staff member
would have been pulled to the floor in the dogs enthusiasm
to be close to those they loved. If there is such a thing as
a bright spot in an evacuation and all that follows, this is
it!
