Procedures:

• You will fill out an LA/SPCA Adoption Survey with the client care staff, which will enable our staff and you to find the perfect match for your home.
• You are then welcome to visit with the dogs and cats in our adoption areas.
• If you find a pet that you are interested in adopting our volunteers and client care staff will be happy to tell you what information is known about the animal and let you interact with the animal in one of our play yards or rooms.
• We will then review with you your Adopter Survey, and make sure the situation is best for the animal and you.
• Once the adoption has been approved, you pay the adoption fee and if the animal is already spayed or neutered you can take your new friend home.
• If the animal has not yet been sterilized then the animal will remain at the shelter until that procedure can take place.
• If you have other animals in your home we will ask you to do a meet and greet at the shelter before taking the animal home.  Proof of vaccinations are required on current pets.
• Renters will be asked to provide landlord permission stating that pets are permitted.
• We perform yard checks for some animals.
• The primary caregiver must be present and children living in the home must meet the pet prior to adoption.
• Cats cannot be de-clawed following adoption.
• We reserve the right to deny an adoption if we feel it is not in the animal's best interest.

*All of our Adoptions include the following where applicable (an over $400 value in most cases):

• Spay/neuter
• Canine DHPP and Bordetlla vaccinations and feline DRTC vaccinations
• Microchip
• Rabies vaccination and license
• De-worming
• One month of heartworm prevention 
• One month of flea control
• Feline leukemia/ FIV test
• Heartworm test
• Free VCA checkup in applicable zip codes.
