Iris Sontag

My beautiful Iris was only two years and ten months old when she was hit and killed while I was in another state.

Iris was only three months old when my daughter saw her near the park. I asked the man if she was his puppy. He told me he hasn't been feeding, or giving her water, and told me and my daughter we could have her if we wanted her because he didn't want her. It was my son's birthday. Everyone fell in love with her but she became Grandma's baby everyone's baby really.

My daughter looked for a long time to find a name of a Goddess. Iris was the only one that was easy to say, and Iris is the Goddess of the Rainbow. The name was perfect for her; she loved running in the rain. It was raining the day she was killed. She was just having fun running in the rain never knowing there could be something or someone out there that would hurt her. She loved being outside with me; it was our happiest time we spent together. She loved carrying branches from the trees and she loved being in the garden watching birds. I have made her a beautiful flower garden with lots of flowers and birds. Iris would love it.

She went with my daughter and me on a road trip to Alabama where there are lots of squirrels. She loved them. There are no squirrels here where I live. I have lived here all my life and I have never seen a squirrel until the other day, it was near our home. I am glad my daughter was with me or she would of never believed me. It was a happy thought.

Love never dies. I miss and love you, Iris, so very much.
