Dogfighting
Dogfighting is a brutal and bloody game that ends
when one of the dogs is no longer willing or able to continue. The
"sport" is steeped in gambling, drugs, guns, and hardened individuals
who lack compassion for sentient beings.
Dogfighting enthusiasts often bring their young children to the events
promoting insensitivity to animal suffering, enthusiasm for violence,
and a lack of respect for the law.
The LA/SPCA, a private non-profit, and the Louisiana State Police have
raided numerous dogfighting operations and have taken a bite out of the
illegal "sport" not only in our state, but internationally. Louisiana is
home to some of the country’s most renowned illegal fighters, giving a
bad name to legitimate sportsman and all those who love dogs.
Our staff are highly trained in Blood Sport investigation and animal
handling. We are proud to partner with the police to stamp out the
"sport." As a private organization, we depend on donations for our work.
All contributions, no matter how small, help to defray costs associated
with our large scale dogfighting busts. We cannot do it without you.
Below you will find articles which will help you understand our
positions on dogfighting and
pit bull's in general.
