Adopt Today

Saving just one animal won't change the world, but surely it will change the world for that one animal.

Adoption Sleepovers

The Louisiana SPCA offers an Adoption Sleepover Program for qualified adopters who would like to "try out" a pet prior to adopting it. The adopter will have up to 72 hours to introduce the pet to the household, determining if it's a good fit.

Animal Qualifications

In order to be available for an Adoption Sleepover, the dog or cat must be an adoptable animal who has been cleared by our behaviorist or adoption supervisor.

Adopter Qualifications

Adopters must first meet all adoption criteria and complete the adoption process. The adoption will not be finalized until the adopter has confirmed the adoption or the 72-hour window has been completed (whichever comes first).

The adopter is responsible for the standard adoption fee and a non-refundable/non-transferable Adoption Sleepover Program fee of $25. If the adopter returns the pet prior to the 72-hour window, only the adoption fee is transferable towards another adoption. Should the adopter choose to return the pet the adoption fee can be applied to another pet but a new Adoption Sleepover Program fee will be required.
