Who we are

Established in 1888, the mission of the Louisiana SPCA is to promote, protect and advance the well-being of Louisiana's companion animals.

Dorothy Dorsett Brown Humanitarian Award

The Dorothy Dorsett Brown Humanitarian Award was first presented in 1995 by the Louisiana SPCA to Dorothy Dorsett Brown posthumously. Dorothy Dorsett Brown demonstrated a tireless commitment to improving the condition of animals' lives, even after her death. The Humanitarian Award was created as a way to honor her memory and future humanitarians and compassionate crusaders of animals.
