At the Louisiana SPCA, we believe in ...
Responsibility - The community is collectively responsible for the well-being of its animals.
Companionship - the human-animal bond adds to the quality of life in a community.
Humane Ethic – In prioritizing the humane and compassionate treatment of companion animals; our role is to guide the community towards these. All animals deserve the 5 freedoms:
|hunger & thirst.
||injury, pain or disease.
||express normal behavior.
||fear & distress.
In striving for the highest standard of care that we can provide. We go to great lengths to do our best for the animals.
Professional Responsibility - Euthanasia is not a failure of our organization or a reflection of the caring or compassion of the individuals who have to make that determination. Sometimes euthanasia is an unavoidable reality.
Respect - Whether paid or unpaid, everyone affiliated with the organization maintains a level of professionalism in all interactions. Respectful and empathetic communication internally and externally is paramount, maintaining an open mind.
Human Investment - We value our employees and volunteers and challenge them to grow and progress within the organization. We believe in continuous improvement and learning as individuals and as an organization.
Transparency and Integrity – Financial accountability is a top priority following GAAP and other financial best practices. Communicating truthfully about our operations and decisions. We are good stewards of the community’s and individual contributor’s resources (time and dollars).
Relationships - Through collaboration, cooperation, and communication we can accomplish more within animal welfare.
