Rules and Information

Homebrewer Experience
The requested minimum donation is 5 gallons per beer. All homebrews are served in 2 ounce pours, are charged two credits, and are by fat the most popular draw. We recommend combining a booth or joining a homebrewer club booth unless you have 15-20 gallons total. Please email us with any questions about day-of experience if you are new or are looking to combine with another homebrewer or homebrew club.
    To be eligible:
  • You must fill out the 2019 Homebrewer form and be an active participant in NOLA on Tap. This means you are donating your beer and serving it at the event. All beers competing in contests must be available on tap.
BJCP Contest
We will have a series of BJCP judges and "celebrity" judges who will both judge and give you feedback on up to three beers per homebrewer. You may bring more beers to this event, but due to judging times and participation, the BJCP is limited to a maximum of three beers this year. If you would like to participate in this contest, you must bring this beer to the event and sign up here by Wednesday, August 21 at 11 p.m.
On the day of the event, please put your beer in three pre-chilled plain brown bottles with no distinct markings on the bottle, print out the label from the Brewcomp website and put it in a ziplock bag with a rubber band.
On Saturday, September 21, bring them to the Judges Tent at 9 a.m. at the event. This is an open category competition and all categories will be accepted. First, second, and third place will not be awarded amongst individual categories but for all entries received. Award ceremony will be presented at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the event on the stage.
People's Choice Contest
All homebrewed beers brought to NOLA on Tap will be entered in the People's Choice Contest. The first 1000 drinking adults who purchase tickets at the event will be given three special contest tickers that they can put in a provided voting box labeled with your name and beer placed on the table in front of where you pour. These tickets will be given to the public starting at 11:00 a.m. The boxes will be picked up at 3:00 p.m. There will be an announcement and a trophy for first, second, and third place beers that will be presented at approximately 4:45 p.m. on the stage.
Best Booth Contest
Each team that sets up a booth will be eligible for this award. We celebrate your creativity in designing your booth, jockeybox, and overall presentation. Awards for first, second, and third place will be announced on stage at 4:45 p.m.
Please note:
  • Ice, tables, and signage will be provided; you are encouraged to bring a 10x10 straight leg tent
  • No staking allowed on Festival Grounds
  • Set up can begin as early as 7 a.m. but must be completed by 10 a.m. on September 21
  • Louisiana SPCA will provide loading and set up instructions one week prior to the event
  • Event t-shirt voucher(s) will be provided for you and your volunteer beer servers
  • Food will be provided at the volunteer tent
Thanks again for being a part of the Homebrew Competition at NOLA on Tap. It is one way we say thank you for donating your beer and time to the Louisiana SPCA. Cheers and good luck!
