Make a difference in the lives of animals in our community by getting involved in our programs and events. 

volunteer Groups

The Louisiana SPCA can occasionally accommodate group volunteer requests (no more than 10-15 people) for a day of service at the shelter facility with adequate advance notice. A sample of activities our groups have completed is below. Additionally, we can always use group help at our major fundraising events.


Past group activities

  • Gardening: weeding, raking, and picking up litter on our campus

  • Administration: making packets of information, making copies, participating in phone banks

  • Fundraising: creating competitions between classes

  • Animal Enrichment: making Kongs for the dogs to enjoy, crafting bandannas for the animals to wear, putting cat nip treats together

  • Other: Unfolding newspaper

Your Information
Thank you for considering the Louisiana SPCA for your upcoming group volunteer event. Our minimum donation requirement for a 10 person, 2 hour volunteer group is $250, which supports our ability to provide care for over 400 animals daily. Additional time and/or people can be accommodated with an additional donation. We want to ensure we plan accordingly for your group with adequate supervision and any needed supplies, so please complete the fields below to let us know more about your group.
Please note, we may not be able to accommodate your first choice of date and time. Please consider alternate availability.
Adult chaperones are required to attend with volunteers under the age of 18.
Guideline Acknowledgement
Please read through the following volunteer guidelines before submitting your request.
Volunteering is managed in increments of two hour shifts. Suggested activities include:
  • Assisting the Maintenance and Facilities Team
  • Assisting our Community Clinic team
  • Working with our Animal Enrichment Program and Animal Care Attendants
  • Event preparation, set up and break down
  • Other unspecified projects requiring help at the time of your visit
We will also ensure your visit includes a dedicated time to socialize with our adoptable animals. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
